Lodging is the one big thing still open. Rather than pad this page, here's honest orientation on Florence so you can start looking — and we'll add specifics the moment we have them.

We're still deciding whether to hold rooms somewhere or leave everyone to book independently. October isn't a crush in Florence, so there's no need to panic — we'll have an answer long before you need to commit.

None yet. If we do hold rooms there'll be a cut-off date, and we'll tell you with plenty of warning rather than a week out.
We'll be staying two nights in Florence for the weekend itself, then heading off around the rest of Italy. Once we've booked, we'll say where — some of you will want to be in the same building, and some of you very sensibly won't.

The city is small and walkable — you're rarely more than twenty-five minutes on foot from anywhere. Pick on character, not distance.

Ballpark October rates for two people, to help you plan. Not quotes, and not recommendations — just the shape of the market.
If you're travelling with kids or splitting with another family, a short-term apartment usually beats two hotel rooms on both price and sanity. Look for somewhere with a lift if you're above the second floor — Florentine buildings are old and stairs are steep.
